Did you know that West Central is 1 of only 3 schools in South Dakota to be named a "Best Community for Music Education"? Congrats to the whole community for supporting music education. We have had this honor 18 out of the 25 years that the award has been given.

We are nearing the finish line for the new playground at Hartford Elementary! The crew is working on the last step of laying the rubber flooring in the area. They will continue to work over the weekend. The floor must cure over the weekend before anyone goes on it. As a reminder, please DO NOT enter the playground construction area until it's been cleared for use. Fingers crossed for Monday!

The middle school has established communication and behavior goals for the year. For communication, our goal is to effectively document and communicate positive and negative behaviors to stakeholders. Related to behavior, our goals are for students to demonstrate respect for others and use effective conflict resolution skills.

High School Parent Informational Nights: Junior/Senior Parent Information Night Monday, September 9 at 6:30 Mrs. Lupkes will go over all information relevant to testing (i.e. ACT), scholarships, applying to colleges, and other important things that students should be aware of during their junior and senior year. This information is also shared with students during class, but often times parents are the ones with the questions! So, I want to give parents the opportunity to have this information, as well. This information is similar to years past. If you attended last year (and now have a senior) and want a refresher, please join! FAIN (Financial Aid Information Night) Monday, October 7 at 6:00 Emily Studenski, from Augustana, will be here to present on applying for financial aid through the FAFSA. She is an expert! Although it is current seniors who will be applying for financial aid this year, it's never to early to hear this information and be prepared; therefore parents of juniors are also invited.
