High School Parent Informational Nights:
Junior/Senior Parent Information Night
Monday, September 9 at 6:30
Mrs. Lupkes will go over all information relevant to testing (i.e. ACT), scholarships, applying to colleges, and other important things that students should be aware of during their junior and senior year.
This information is also shared with students during class, but often times parents are the ones with the questions! So, I want to give parents the opportunity to have this information, as well.
This information is similar to years past. If you attended last year (and now have a senior) and want a refresher, please join!
FAIN (Financial Aid Information Night)
Monday, October 7 at 6:00
Emily Studenski, from Augustana, will be here to present on applying for financial aid through the FAFSA. She is an expert!
Although it is current seniors who will be applying for financial aid this year, it's never to early to hear this information and be prepared; therefore parents of juniors are also invited.

🚸 Attention West Central Students and Parents: School Zone Safety Reminder from the Minnehaha Sheriff's Office! 🚸
As we welcome another school year, it's important to remember the critical driving behaviors that keep our kids safe in and around school zones. Here are a few key reminders for everyone:
1. School Zone Speed Limits:
• When the yellow flashing lights are on, you must slow down to 15 mph in the school zone.
• If there are no flashing lights, but you see a sign that says "When Children Are Present," this still means you must slow down to 15 mph whenever children are around.
2. Stopping at Intersections:
• Always come to a complete stop at intersections where stop signs are posted. This is not just for your safety but also for the safety of our students and community.
3. Pedestrian Crosswalks:
• If you see a pedestrian standing at a crosswalk, you must yield and allow them to cross safely. Pedestrian safety is a top priority!
4. Highway 38 & 2nd Street Crossing:
• A staff member will be stationed here to stop traffic, allowing students to cross safely. The staff member will be wearing a high-visibility vest and holding a stop sign. Please stop and yield to the staff member and the students.
At West Central Elementary in Hartford, please be extra cautious due to the ongoing construction in the area. Drive with heightened awareness to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
Remember: Failure to adhere to these rules—speeding in school zones, not coming to a full stop at stop signs, and failing to yield to pedestrians—could result in serious injury, death, citations, or even jail.
Let's work together to make this school year safe for everyone! It’s our responsibility as motorists to drive safely on the roads. And as always, wear your seatbelt and never use your phone while driving.
Stay safe, West Central! 🚦
