Principal's Message:
Welcome to the West Central Middle School web page. The middle school building was completed in 2007-we’re happy to call this place home! We have a great school at WCMS, and that can be attributed to a great staff, great parents, and of course, the VERY BEST middle school students around.
The district’s mission statement is: “To prepare students for learning and living in a changing world.” Our middle school’s vision is: We shape flexible and resilient learners who are safe, responsible, and respectful. We promote our school’s core values, as well. These core values include: We believe in being honest and acting with integrity. We believe our success relies upon us giving our best effort and being dependable. We believe by working together we can achieve greatness.
Students experience a traditional eight period day. Our school’s academic program includes core classes of Reading, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science and Language Arts at each grade level. These core classes meet every day for the year. Students also have the opportunity to learn in exploratory courses unique to each grade level. These courses include Art, Family and Consumer Sciences, Robotics, Health, Technology, Forensics, Financial Readiness, Guidance, Young Adult Literature, Spanish and others. Each exploratory course meets every day for one quarter. Students have the opportunity to develop physical skills in PE classes that meet every other day. Plus, all of our students have the opportunity to participate in vocal or instrumental music.
Middle school students have the opportunity to develop their skills through a variety of activity choices. Our seventh and eighth grade students have the opportunity to participate in our interscholastic athletics programs that include football, volleyball, cross-country, basketball, softball, soccer, wrestling, golf and track. All middle school students are able to participate in oral interp, drama, marching band, jazz band, quiz bowl, and student council.
We look forward to having you attend or visit our middle school.
